Festschrift in Honor of Henry Chesbrough
Rome, April 20-21, 2026
Rome, April 20-21, 2026
Consistent with European tradition, we are organizing a festschrift in honor of Henry Chesbrough and his research. Timed to the year of Henry’s 70th birthday, the two-day festschrift conference will be hosted by Luiss Business School in Rome on April 20-21, 2026.
Because this festschrift conference is intended for the development of a permanent record honoring Henry’s work, any conference paper must be submitted and accepted for one of the three conference tracks (for the CMR special issue, the ICC special section, or the R&D Mgmt special issue). Authors of papers submitted to this developmental workshop will be asked to confirm their intention (if accepted) to participate in the corresponding special issue or section.
The submission of a full paper to the conference will be via this web page. Registration will open on January 2, 2026, and for all tracks the deadline for submitting is February 1, 2026.
A similar submission process will be used for all tracks, but the actual submissions will be processed by the respective guest editor teams. The handling of submissions after the conference is specified in the corresponding call for papers, as are any length or formatting requirements.
Authors are allowed to participate in multiple submissions across the tracks. However, the submission of the same (or substantially similar) paper to multiple tracks will result in the automatic rejection of the paper from all tracks.
Beyond the conference organizers, participation in the conference will be limited to the presenting author for an accepted conference paper. The presenter should plan to spend two nights at one of the nearby conference hotels, and will be expected to attend the entire conference. If one author can’t attend the entire conference, a different author should present.
Most of the sessions of the conference will be devoted to paper presentation and feedback. However, plenty of time will be provided for networking and other socializing during the breaks, meals, and at the end of the day. A preliminary schedule for the conference is as follows:
The conference committee consists of
Elena Bruni, Luiss Business School
Alberto Di Minin, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna
Marcus Holgersson, Chalmers University of Technology
Wim Vanhaverbeke, University of Antwerp
Joel West, Keck Graduate Institute and San José State (committee chair)
