ICC Special Section
“Innovation Spanning Organizational and Disciplinary Boundaries: Contributions in Honor of Henry Chesbrough”
“Innovation Spanning Organizational and Disciplinary Boundaries: Contributions in Honor of Henry Chesbrough”
We invite submissions for a proposed special section of Industrial & Corporate Change that celebrates and extends the contributions of Henry Chesbrough to innovation management, particularly with the creation of open innovation.
Research on open innovation has assumed or examined mechanisms that overlap the work of many other streams of research. Such overlapping mechanisms mean there are commonalities between open innovation and other major streams of research. However, research to date has tended to be siloed by boundaries between disciplines and research streams.
We are seeking papers that explore how these common mechanisms between these other bodies of research and open innovation create opportunities to inform open innovation (or vice versa), as well as synergistic opportunities to combine Chesbrough’s work with other streams. Please see the full CFP [coming soon] for complete details on the relevant themes and literature.
The April 2026 festschrift conference will be used as a developmental workshop for the special section. Papers submitted in accordance with conference policies and presented at the conference will be considered for submission to the special section. It is expected that most of the papers presented will be invited to participate in the special section.
The schedule is as follows:
February 1, 2026: Deadline for electronic submission of papers to the conference
March 1, 2026: Notification of authors regarding acceptance to the conference
April 20-21, 2026: Special Section Conference held at Luiss Business School
May 15, 2026: deadline for submission of papers to ICC
